St. Lawrence Recreational Path
St. Lawrence Recreational Path

Ingleside is a small, charming hamlet just west of the City of Cornwall, located on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. The community's amenities include a medical centre, schools, churches and variety of small town merchants. Excellent recreational facilities abound in the region, including Upper Canada Golf Course, one of Eastern Canada's most respected courses.

Ingleside is a planned community, having been created following the development of the St. Lawrence Seaway in the late 1950s.

South Stormont
Ingleside is part of the Township of South Stormont, which has a population of 11,941, and covers 447 sq. kms. The St. Lawrence River provides a stunning backdrop to the small towns, rolling farmland and popular tourist attractions in the township. Attractions in the South Stormont region include world renowned Upper Canada Village, the Long Sault Parkway, the Lost Villages, Cornwall Motor Speedway and several campgrounds.

For the outdoor enthusiast the St. Lawrence Recreational Path stretches over 75 kms, from Lancaster to Iroquois. The majority of the path follows the shoreline of the St. Lawrence River, and runs right through Ingleside. Boating enthusiasts will enjoy a number of area marinas, and sailors will especially appreciate the amenities at the Stormont Yacht Club.

Geographically, South Stormont is on the main Toronto-Montreal corridor. It is only a short hour's drive from both Montreal and Ottawa and 3 ½ hours from Toronto. The City of Cornwall is just minutes to the east, which offers immediate access to the United States via the the Seaway International bridge.

United Counties of Stormont Dundas and Glengarry
South Stormont is part of the United Counties of Stormont Dundas and Glengarry (S. D. & G.), an area rich in heritage, tradition, culture and history. The United Counties extends south from the Nation's Capital, Ottawa, to the St. Lawrence River and east to the Quebec border.

The United Counties has a population of 63,882, but combined with the City of Cornwall, the regional population is approximately 110,000.

Housing is remarkably affordable, and the area boasts miles and miles of waterfront, excellent schools, parks, recreational trails, and most of all, peace, quiet and tranquillity. If you enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, camping or a host of other outdoor activities, then SD&G may have just what you are looking for.

City of Cornwall
The region's commercial centre is nearby Cornwall, a bustling city of approximately 46,000. Cornwall has a very well developed commercial and industrial sector, offering a wide variety of shopping, dining and recreational opportunites.
